The national centerof government employees, COURAGE, todaysaid all Arroyo appointees should exit now and no longer wait for PresidentElect Benigno Aquino III or P-Noy’s appointees.
In a statement sentto the media, COURAGE National President Ferdinand Gaite said they shouldemulate Anita Carpon, Arroyo’s manicurist who was appointed to represent thegovernment employees to the PAG-IBIG Board of Trustees. Carpon out ofdelicadeza turned down the appointment spurned by the very same employees she’ssupposed to represent.
“Carpon stood tallfor doing what is right, for not accepting a government post as a reward forher loyalty to Arroyo”.
But Gaite was quickto point out that PAGCOR Chairman Ephraim Genuino’s case is different. “Whilehe was also said to have filed his retirement early out of delicadeza, webelieve Genuino should still be investigated as to how he made use of PAGCORfunds and machinery for Arroyo’s party lists such as Aahon tayo, BIDA, AngGaling Pinoy, Kasangga and others”.
“At the very leastGenuino should still be recognized for his early retirement because unlikeGenuino who was in fact reappointed for another year by Arroyo, there are manyothers so impervious they simply refuse to give-up their post. If there’s anArroyo appointee the 1.5 million government workers would press to quit, it’sGSIS President and General Manager Winston Garcia”.
Gaite said the ranks of the government employeesshall work to ensure P-Noy make good his earlier campaign promise to help themin their GSIS issues. “A good start is to fire Winston Garcia on June 30. Wewill also be vigilant as to whom P-Noy will appoint to the said post”.
